A Bigger Splash is the last and largest of a series of three pool paintings by David Hockney that do not feature people. However, just because Hockney did not include people in his pool paintings does not mean that cats are equally taboo. The original painting (without the cat ;-)) has been in London's Tate Gallery since 1981. It is considered an "icon" of pop art and has become a symbol of pleasure society.
